I stood in the lobby of our store today and watched a customer browsing the earring section. Picking some up to her face and overlooking others, she was entranced by the glittering stones on the rotating rack. I wondered how she would make the decision on which earrings to choose, having not decided on a dress yet. She quickly moved on, but I remained, standing before this enormous glass case of jewelry catching and reflecting the light with every color of the rainbow. Turns out, knowing your accessories is just as important when choosing a prom dress as knowing what silhouette, designer, or fabric you like in a gown. Dazzled by the jewelry cases and overwhelmed by the sheer size of the selection, I set out to find the meaning behind the sparkling madness.

We see so many brides in our store every week with all kinds of different wedding visions. Some prefer traditional ball gowns or a-line styles to match their classic church venue, while others are looking for a sleek silhouette to take with them on a destination wedding or rustic outdoor nuptials. But after the dress has been chosen, happy tears have been shed, alternations made, and the big day arrives, its nearly impossible to absorb and retain all the action on the big day. That’s why it’s important to invest in a good photographer, someone who has an eye for things you can’t truly appreciate until after the party is over. A real professional with a proven track record and experience will often times run you more than feeding all your guests, depending on the list of course. With the year winding down and the holidays upon us, designers and experts in the industry know that prom is right around the corner and many have already released their 2013 collections. One shoulder looks are hot for the upcoming 2013 prom season! What better way to rock a sculpted shoulder than with a tease of skin that’s still classy, but also sexy. The great thing about off-the-shoulder prom gowns is that they work well on almost any female body type and height because they bring attention up, which is great for those with heavier bottom halves. They also do their part to emphasize the waist on short or hour-glass shapes, as well as willowy shapes with few curves.

The geometric cut of many off-the-shoulder styles sweeps just across the chest and lands just below the shoulders to accentuate long arms, back, shoulders, as well as a full chest in a romantic, sweep.

You can easily add some sparkle to your off-the-shoulder gown because the neck placement allows for accessories – like a statement necklace or bracelets, shiny gloves, or even shimmering body lotion to show off your beautiful skin.

Here are the top 10 one-shoulder looks for prom night 2013…
